George Georges (15 April 1920 - 23 September 2002) was a Labor senator for Queensland, Australia from 1968 to 1986. From 15 December 1986 he was an independent after quitting the ALP. He was defeated at the 1987 election.
Georges was a humanist and socialist who was jailed several times by the Joh Bjelke-Petersen regime in the 1970s and 1980s as a consequence of his activities in promoting what he saw as civil liberties and workers' rights.
Georges was educated at Brisbane State High School. He died in Canberra on 23 September 2002.[1]
